Unfortunately, what started out as a good idea - giving friends, family and fellow race officers an idea of what has been going on in Qingdao - has gotten out of hand.

One site in the USA quoted my blog without my consent, stated that I am an International Judge and implied that my comments were the from International Jury. I am an International Judge, but, unlike Athens, I'm not on the International Jury. I'm also an International Race Officer, and I'm the PRO for the Olympics (that wasn't mentioned on the website that quoted my blog without my consent).

One site posted a link without my consent.

It is a huge honor to have been appointed as the PRO. We have an incredible team of 26 International Race Officers working with a dedicated group of Chinese race officers. We're working well together and having a lot of fun. I hope we've earned the respect and confidence of the sailors and coaches. I look forward to helping deliver a fantastic regatta.

Although the blog has been fully consistent with the IOC blogging guidelines, I want no part of what it has become.

I look forward to sending some pictures and comments by email to friends, family and race officers when I get home. In the meantime, please check regularly on the ISAF Olympics microsite. There's a lot of good information, including protest decisions, results and mark roundings.

All the best.

Charley
